Before you record
- Decide the 3 platforms you'll post the clips on, and their formats (9:16 for Shorts, Reels and TikTok; 4:5 or 16:9 for feeds).
- Plan 3-5 strong moments into the long video: a clear opinion, a story with a payoff, a useful how-to, a funny reaction.
Finding the 10 clips
- Watch or skim the transcript and mark every moment that makes sense on its own without the rest of the video.
- For each, write the hook: the first line someone hears. If the clip's first sentence needs context, start later.
- Keep each clip to one idea. Cut the wind-up.
Making them watchable
- Add word-by-word captions. Most people scroll with sound off.
- Reframe so the speaker's face stays in frame in 9:16.
- Mute or bleep profanity if a platform or brand partner needs it.
- Add your logo or handle in a consistent spot.
Posting
- Write one caption per platform (they reward different lengths and hashtags), and schedule the 10 clips across 1-2 weeks instead of posting them all at once. Recycle the best performers later.
Track which hooks earned the most views and use those patterns in your next long video.
